WatchImplant-Supported Bridge
How an implant-supported bridge replaces several teeth at once
When several teeth in a row are missing, an implant-supported bridge is the most durable, natural-feeling way to replace them. Unlike a traditional bridge — which requires shaving down the healthy teeth on either side of the gap — an implant-supported bridge anchors to titanium posts placed directly in your jawbone, leaving your other teeth untouched.
This video walks through the procedure. After comfortable numbing, small openings are made in the jawbone and the implants are placed. Over several months, the bone naturally fuses to each implant in a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, an extension is attached to each implant and impressions are taken to fabricate a custom bridge that's cemented or screwed permanently into place.
The benefits are significant. The implants stop the jawbone loss that always follows tooth loss, the bridge prevents your remaining teeth from drifting into the gap, and the surrounding healthy teeth don't have to be cut down. With good home care and routine checkups, an implant-supported bridge can last a lifetime.
